Personal, Social and Health Education and Relationships and Sex Education

At Luckington our objective with PSHE is to make ensure that all children  are knowledgeable, rational and empathic. Through RSE, we aim to ensure that all children are knowledgeable and develop a mature approach towards making decisions in their personal lives.

As a child grows, so does their independence. Along with this independence comes more responsibility. We want to ensure that our children are equipped with the values and skills they need as they grow.

We teach PSHE/RSE weekly, but there are always strong links to the area through our weekly assemblies, particularly when we are looking at our school values. Whenever needed, we use additional sessions throughout the week to respond to any things that have come up that need to be addressed. We use Coram SCARF scheme to deliver the PSHE curriculum. Coram Life Education and SCARF is the UK's leading charity provider of PSHE and wellbeing education in primary schools. SCARF stands for; Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.

It is important that our curriculum in this area stays relevant, reflecting the times that we live in. We therefore subscribe to the PSHE Association who keep us up to date.

To enrich this further and to highlight key messages further, we work closely with the NSPCC, Stay Safe Initiative and the Life Education Bus.
