To enhance our whole school topic 'Branching Out' we took the children on a trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. In the morning we had an education session which focused on looking for signs of seasonal change and identifying trees. The children loved looking at the different kinds of trees and learning their names. We looked for the fruit and seeds that grew on the trees and compared the different leaf shapes. We also looked for signs of animal life and we were lucky to see a squirrel and a hole under a tree which led to a rabbit warren. We also saw signs of moles and badgers. After a picnic lunch we explored the tree top walkway and collected leaves to put on our crowns. We were all very tired by the time we got back on the coach to go back to school!
