We were very excited when we received an email telling us that as a result of winning the cluster group tennis festival our Year 3 and 4 children had been invited to the Wiltshire and Swindon School Games. On Wednesday 4th July we traveled to Marlborough College to take part. We were given special T.shirts to wear with one of the Game's values on the back. Ours was self belief. We first went to the opening ceremony and saw a school choir and a dance group perform and we listened to a speech by a marathon runner. We did a warm up with a dance teacher before we went to the venue for the tennis competition. We played in two groups and after 5 games we found out that we had come second in our group. We went onto play the winner of the first group and then onto play for 3rd/4th place. Overall we came 4th out of 10 teams - a great achievement for such a small school. I was very proud of Jack, Noah, Alice and Nico who all played really well. We witnessed some amazing rallies and their tennis improved as the day went on. After we had finished the children were able to participate in other events in the athlete's village such as golf, archery, tightrope walking, the golden mile run and an inflatable obstacle course. Amazingly, they all still had enough energy to run a mile! A great day was had by all!!
