Could you bring your experience, ideas and commitment to our small village school?

Luckington Community School is a small rural primary school with a supportive staff team, a committed parent community and children who are at the heart of everything we do. Our motto, “Live, Laugh, Learn,” reflects our ambition for every child to feel that they belong, enjoy learning and achieve their potential.

We are looking for new governors to join our governing body and are particularly keen to hear from people interested in becoming Chair of Governors.

Becoming a governor

Governors help set the school’s strategic direction, oversee its finances and hold school leaders to account for the quality of education. They offer support, ask thoughtful questions and help ensure that decisions serve the best interests of all pupils.

You do not need to work in education or have a child at the school. We welcome people from a wide range of backgrounds, including those with experience in business, finance, leadership, HR, premises or community work. Above all, we are looking for people who care about children’s education, can work constructively with others and have time to contribute.

Interested in the Chair role?

The Chair leads the governing body, helps governors work effectively together and works closely with the Headteacher, providing both support and constructive challenge.

This could suit an experienced governor ready to take the next step, or someone with relevant leadership experience who would like to explore the role. We would welcome an informal conversation about your experience and the support and training available.

These are voluntary, unpaid roles involving meetings, preparation, training and occasional school visits.
