Attendance Information
At Luckington, we want every child to enjoy school, feel that they belong and make the most of their learning. We expect children to attend every school day, aiming for 100% attendance, unless they are too unwell to attend or there is another unavoidable reason for absence.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced: each lesson builds on knowledge and skills children have developed before. What children learn today helps them understand tomorrow’s learning. Being present regularly gives them time to practise, make connections and grow in confidence.
Missing school can mean missing an important step in that sequence. Although we help children catch up, a worksheet cannot fully replace a teacher’s explanation, a class discussion or the opportunity to practise with others. Regular attendance also helps children maintain friendships, feel settled and take part in the wider life of our school.
Planning holidays and appointments
Please arrange family holidays during the school holidays and, wherever possible, book routine appointments outside school hours. We do not authorise term-time absence for holidays as a matter of routine. Any request for leave must be made in advance and will be considered individually in line with our attendance policy.
Working together
We understand that children become ill and that families sometimes face difficult circumstances. If your child is too unwell to attend, please contact the school office promptly and keep us informed.
If worries, friendships, health needs or difficulties at home are affecting attendance, please speak to us early. We will listen and work with you to find practical support.
Every day matters, and together we can help your child attend, feel confident and keep moving forward in their learning.
