Aims and Vision
Our vision
Every child belongs, grows in confidence and achieves success—with the knowledge, skills and values to make a positive difference in the world.
At Luckington, strong relationships are the foundation of learning. We use the strength of our school community to understand each child well, nurture their individuality and help them achieve their best.
We combine this personal approach with broad horizons and high expectations. We want our children to become curious learners, independent thinkers and compassionate people, ready for the next stage of their education and the opportunities beyond.
Our aims
1. Ensure every child feels safe, valued and included
We create a nurturing environment where children feel secure, know whom to turn to and have a voice in school life. We work with children and families to understand individual needs, identify barriers and adapt our provision so that everyone can participate and succeed.
2. Build strong foundations for learning
We give children the knowledge and skills they need to move forward with confidence. We prioritise language, reading, writing and mathematics, alongside the personal and social skills that help children learn well. Teaching builds carefully on what children already know, with support and challenge that help them take their next steps.
3. Inspire curiosity and deepen understanding
We provide a broad, ambitious curriculum that helps children understand the world and discover their interests. Through clear explanations, modelling, discussion and purposeful practice, we help children connect ideas, remember their learning and use it with increasing independence.
4. Develop confidence, independence and wellbeing
We help children recognise their strengths, persevere through difficulties and learn from mistakes. They learn to understand their emotions, build positive relationships and make informed choices about their health and safety. Across our mixed-age community, children take responsibility, support one another and grow as leaders.
5. Open doors to experiences and possibilities
We enrich learning through Forest School, outdoor exploration, sport, the arts, visits and visitors. We make purposeful use of our rural setting while introducing children to different cultures, perspectives and ways of life. We encourage every child to explore new opportunities and develop ambitions for their future.
6. Strengthen partnerships and encourage contribution
We work closely with families, our local community and other professionals to support children’s learning and wellbeing. We teach children that their actions matter and give them opportunities to care for others, contribute to their community and take responsibility for the environment.
