Science

"It is important to view knowledge as a sort of semantic tree - make sure you understand the fundamental principles i.e. the trunk and big branches, before you get into the leaves/details or there is nothing for them to hang on to."

Elon Musk.

At Luckington, our aim is to ensure that all children have the key scientific skills and knowledge in biology, chemistry and physics.

The curriculum is not only designed so that the children can take these strands of science further at secondary school, but also to help them develop a balanced and informed understanding of the world around them. We also believe that the key investigative skills they learn are more important than ever in terms of dealing with the amount of information they will have contend with as they grow older.

In both classes, science is taught at least once a week. Once a term, a science theme will be the basis for our whole school topic.
