Background
The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England. It’s designed to help disadvantaged pupils of all abilities perform better, and close the gap between them and their peers. Schools are given a pupil premium for: Children who have qualified for free school meals at any point in the past six years and children who are or have been looked after under local authority care for more than one day.
Pupil Premium Principles
• We will ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils
• We will ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed
• In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who are eligible for free school meals will be socially disadvantaged
• We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as needing support.
• Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at any one time.

In February 2021, the government announced a one-off recovery premium as part of its package of funding to support education recovery.
The recovery premium provides additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021 to 2022 academic year. Building on the pupil premium, this funding will help schools to deliver evidence-based approaches for supporting disadvantaged pupils.
We have included some information about Recovery Premium in our Pupil Premium Strategy (above) but you can see more detail in the document below.
Please see the review section in the document below to see the impact of our catch up funding.
Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6.
